The Greater Wausau region is Wisconsin’s BaseCamp!

Wausau is known for its outdoor pursuits, vibrant arts and culture, and much more. In 2018, Wausau was ranked #1 small city for bicycling in the country (and #2 in ranking of cities of all sizes). We are recognized for our extensive network of trails — from paved city routes to challenging mountain bike trails.

The greater Wausau area has it all for cycling — lightly traveled paved country roads, scenic gravel roads, paved bike trails, and mountain biking for all skill levels. Look for bald eagles, ospreys, sand hill cranes! You may even see a fox, a porcupine, or a bear while you cycle through beautiful Wisconsin forests, acres of protected wetlands, and amazing vistas.
